Introduction

Agricultural Biotechnology is the use of genetic engineering in the agriculture.

Agricultural Biotechnology

Biotechnology is transforming our daily lives. Understanding the interaction between genes and the environment will help us to optimize agricultural production systems and cope with climate change. As world population grows past 7 billion, we need to find sustainable strategies to increase the quantity and-quality of our food and feed supplies. Agricultural scientists are challenged to increase production yields while preserving natural resources, protecting biodiversity and dealing with the ever-shrinking availability of arable farm land and available water resources. The tools of biotechnology can be used to address challenges in agriculture by speeding up traditional methods of plant and animals breeding, helping to identify the most sustainable farming and ranching practices, and in understand the biology of important agriculture  species and co systems.(Citation 2)

What's A GMO

A genetically modified organism (GMO) or genetically engineered organism (GEO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. These techniques, generally known as recombinant DNA technology, use DNA molecules from different sources, which are combined into one molecule to create a new set of genes. This DNA is then transferred into an organism, giving it modified or novel genes. Transgenic organisms, a subset of GMOs, are organisms that have inserted DNA from a different species. GMOs are the constituents of genetically modified foods. (Citation 1)
